A number of English verbs can be confusing. The list isn't however limited to English verbs. 


• There is a verb FIND that the past tense is FOUND and there is another verb FOUND that the past tense is FOUNDED.


• There is a verb GRIND that the past tense is GROUND and there is another verb GROUND that the past tense is GROUNDED. 


• There is a verb WIND /waind/ that the past tense is WOUND and there is another verb WOUND that the past tense is WOUNDED. 


• There is a verb HANG that the past tense is HUNG. The same verb HANG also has HANGED as its past tense in another instance. 


• There is a verb LAY that the past tense is LAID and there is another verb LIE that the past tense is LAY. 


• There is a verb FALL that the past tense is FELL and there is another verb FELL that the past tense is FELLED. 


• There is a verb THINK that the past tense is THOUGHT; however, THOUGHT can also be used as a noun as well. Hence, we say, My thoughts and prayers are with you (to commiserate with someone on the death of a loved one) or we could say, I am keeping you in your thoughts and including you in my prayers.


• The past tense of BIND is BOUND, not BINDED. 


• There is a word that is PROVISION and there's another word that is PROVISO.


• There is a word that is SPECIAL and another word that is ESPECIAL. 


• There is a word that is UNAWARE and another word that is UNAWARES. 


• There is a word that is BESIDE and another word that is BESIDES. 


• There is a word EVERYDAY (adverb) and a phrase EVERY DAY (adjective) that are not synonymous in meaning. 

• He goes to school every day. 

• Everyday chores. 


• There is a word that is LEAF that the plural form is LEAVES and there is also the verb LEAVE that the past tense is LEFT. 


• There is a word that is QUITE different from QUIET. 


• There is a word that is DEVOUT (pronounced DI-VAOUT) different from DEVOTE(D).

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a ... devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.


• There is a verb that is DAMAGE (or DAMAGES - singular form of DAMAGE) different from the noun DAMAGES. 


• There is a word that is EUNUCH and there's another word that is ENOCH, and they are not pronounced the same way. 


• Roaster (a device) is different from rooster (a male hen), which is also different from roster (a list or plan showing turns of duty or leave for individuals or groups in an organization)
