The objective(s) of these lessons isn't the conventional style of teaching where pupils define a terminology, for instance, a noun, but can't identify such in a sentence. To this end, definitions may differ greatly from what is obtainable in traditional classroom settings. The definition(s) are therefore targeted at helping pupils know how to identify a noun, for instance not necessarily what a noun is. We shall therefore proceed to the question:
What is a noun?
The name of anything or anybody is a noun. Look around you and you will be able to mention the name of somebody, a pet (if you have one), or certain things. Isn't it? That is why a noun is said to be the name of a person, animal, place, or thing.
In image 1 below, all the things in the image each has a name. So they are examples of a noun.
The players whose images appear below have a name. Don't they? Their names are examples of a noun.
Do you understand? Good!
Use the images above to identify the nouns in the sentences below. Question 1 has been answered for you.

3. An elephant is bigger than a cow.
4. A dog barks but a lion roars.
5. He wrote with a pencil in his book.
