Use hardly/barely/scarcely+had+when

Hardly had she arrived when we started.


2. No sooner had...THAN

Use no sooner+had+than 

No sooner had she arrived than we started. 

No sooner had she arrived when we started. (WRONG)

3. It's high time

Use it's (high) time + past tense

It's (high) time she started. 

4. I wish + past tense

Use I wish + past tense 

I wish I met the Queen of England. 

I wish I meet the Queen of England. (WRONG)
