Like me, like Eve; like you like Eve: A Picture of ourselves in the other!

I won't forget in a hurry my experience as house father at a school in October, 2017. I have heard the Principal warn the boys to stay away from what can be termed the circumference of temptation. But did the boys obliged? Trust them, they didn't. It was a cashew tree bearing juicy fruits that the Principal, fondly called Princii, had warned the students to steer clear of. They were not to plug the enticing fruits nor pick up any that fell to the ground. The boys questioned this instruction and wondered why the tree was planted in the first place, and in no other place but the hostel. I took time to chase them off the tempting tree and its lustful juicy fruits. There is no denying the fact that I was tempted too. But for me, the instruction of Princii was enough to curb my appetite for its fruit. While this lasted, I drew lessons from it. Wasn't this similar to what transpired between Eve and the serpent in the garden of Eden? Like Kenneth Copeland noted, there was nothing special or different about the tree God forbade Adam and Eve not to eat from. Don't eat from the tree was the instruction. Nothing more. Like the boys, they wouldn't heed the instruction. Someone would have boasted, as I have seen people do, I wouldn't have fallen for the antics of the serpent. Mind you, the boys heard Princii warn them to steer clear of the cashew tree, but did they obey his instruction? At least from the narrative, no! Come to think of it this way, can you beat your chest that you have obeyed God all the way? If your answer is no, so what makes you think that you would have behaved differently or better than Eve did when she was tempted in the garden and succumbed!
