Leap of Faith

One apparent imminent ridicule stared her in the face. She knows it; her teenage son does and the odds are sure against her. One quick decision can either save her the humiliation or drive her into it headlong. She decided against the former. Her son will be in high school just as the sons of the white dudes. There is no turning back, having come this far. She is in the line with her son to be admitted into high school. They are obviously disadvantaged, the colour of their skin being the foremost! Extreme poverty being a nagging other. Lack of precedence yet another. She keeps moving on in the queue. It will yet be their turn. The eyes of her son questioning why and what they are doing in the line. The next boy in the queue has been admitted. It's almost their turn. The son is now the next to be admitted. She has some explaining to do to the admission master. He will listen to the plight of a poor black American woman. Whatever gave her this assurance. The admission master has something to say to her. She made up her mind to be the first to quickly speak up. Nay, her voice ceased. Not now! She can't express herself when it is needed most. She heard faintly the words of the admission master: "Madam, your son is number 100 in this line... ""...and he would be turned back, isn't  it?" the mom interrupted. "No, mam, he is going to be admitted into school free. It's been the practice here to admit any child on number 100 in the queue into school free. It's an unannounced policy of the school. She is down in tears. She had nothing. She told no neighbors she was taking her son to the high school that turns away black folks. She only will always tell them: my son will have the best of education. She hasn't even got money to pay the fee. Convinced that all things are possible to her who believes, she came as far as her faith could carry her. She could make the journey to the high school; she could pick up the admission form; she could join the queue; she could keep moving in the queue and importantly, she prepared for the worst. It was a leap of faith that she took. A leap! A leap of faith! You can take that leap too. Don't be discouraged! That leap; that next leap can be the gateway into a whole wide world of new experiences. Forget about the many disappointing leaps you have taken in the past. It's a new month presenting you with a fresh opportunity to take a new leap, another leap. Why not give it a trial!
Happy new month to all our readers.
