They decided to act. According to outspoken Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Reverend Father Matthew Kukah, they held a meeting with then President Obasanjo, asking him where the wealth of the nation was. The opinion unstable self-righteous puritan told them the wealth was locked up in pipelines. The meeting ended. Out of the aftermath of the meeting emerged the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).
Of course, another movement whose nomenclature in local parlance, Yahoo Yahoo, signals ill-gotten wealth began flourishing in the early 2000s, under a distasteful belief that it is what the West owned Africa that is being collected. This source of wealth is traceable to a suspicious and dubious dexterity of supposed incised thumbs in negotiating with unsuspecting, deceit-prone white-skinned beings.
Now, there is gradual shift to wealth from strings; wealth from used females undies. The thumbs wouldn't do again. Now used undies have now become endangered clothing accessories, never to be spread outside; never to be put on. Poor ladies. It is alleged that they are young, can afford life niceties, flaunt wealth before interested on-lookers and residentially congregate in choice places in cities they reside. It is alleged that commercial banks now run after them for patronage.
One of them was said to have invited his girlfriend over. Unknown to the innocent lady, the boyfriend had a different motive for inviting her over. She was intended to be used for money ritual. Lucky her, she escaped death by a whisker! Sadly, this nefarious act will continue flourishing, from the point of view expressed by the Police Force.
